How do you raise funds at the Urban-Run Schools event?
It’s very simple, we organise the event and charge you a fee per runner to cover our costs and then you ask each runner to raise sponsorship to cover this cost and raise additional funds for your school.

We leave the fund raising side to you and you can raise funds in a number of ways:

1. Each Urban-runner raises from their friends & family via Just Giving or the traditional sponsor form.
2. You can ask local business and suppliers to become a partner for the event and charge a fee for this, they can sponsor an obstacle, sponsor a t-shirt / medal, sponsor water or just donate funds towards the event.
3. You can charge an entry fee for parents, guardians and family members to enter and generate income from the entry fee alone, this could include asking local businesses to enter their staff as a team building or CSR exercise.
How long will it take for an Urban-Run?
The Urban-Run is a one day event, this includes set up and take down time. Our Urban-Run team will be on site early on the day of your event to set up the obstacles and course. Each venue is different and we adapt the Urban-Run course and obstacles to suit the venue, the ideal site is a self contained venue with a number of grassed areas, toilet and changing facilities and car parking available. We do not operate the Urban-Run route on the public highways.
How far is an Urban-Run course?
The Urban-Run distance and type of obstacle can be amended to suit the site and the Year groups concerned and a number of different courses can be accommodated on the same site. E.g. Year 5 / 6 can tackle a 1,000m course with longer distances for older year groups. This obviously depends on the size of the site available. The Urban-Runners will be organised in start waves per year group / age, this ensures that the course flows smoothly and there are not long queues at obstacles. E.g. Year 5/6 start in waves of runners every 30 seconds from 11am on a 1,000m course & Years 7/8 start in waves of runners from 12 noon on a 2,000m course etc.
How safe is an Urban-Run?
Urban-Run staff are very experienced, a number of key staff have worked in community sport and event management for over 20 years, including the Commonwealth Games in 2002. The course and obstacles are made very safe, there are no obstacles that require ropes / harnesses / zip wires or specialist equipment.

Urban-Run has evolved from the larger Urbanathlon events that have been held continuously for 5 years with no serious accidents or injuries, Manchester City Council are very rigorous with Health & safety and the event has a fantastic reputation for professionalism and safety.
